I’m one of the original members who helped set up Harold Wood Running Club,
I’ve been with the Club for 10 years and had a very active role throughout
my time, from helping arrange Events, organising events and helping with the
day to day activities of the Club.

Elaine Richardson

Club Secretary

I started running late in life attending Raphael’s Parkrun and have been hooked ever since.
When I joined HWRC, whilst striving for improvement, discovered the club do not forget the importance of running for fun.
I love being part of such a welcoming, friendly club and happy to now have the opportunity to give something back by joining the Committee.

Paul Newland

Men’s Captain

I joined Harold Wood Running Club in 2019 and elected to Men’s Captain since 2022.

My role on the committee is to help create an inclusive and supportive atmosphere to help our members achieve their running goals – however big or small. HWRC welcomes runners of all abilities from beginners through to experienced runners competing in our local leagues.

Siobhan Eaton

Welfare Officer

Kit Officer

I started running late 2020 and after my first parkrun and meeting some of the team, I joined HWRC. Since then I’ve taken part in races and met lots of new friends. Being part of the club is great if you want to improve your running or just want a bit of company – I find running with others much more fun! In 2024 I joined the committee as I really enjoy helping out where I can and to give something back.

I started hiking in the mountains. Also doing other activities like climbing, mountaineering, canoeing, cycling, etc. I started to do more and more hiking activities. I did a technical trails course in the mountaineering federation.

I had learned how to design and do trails in the mountain. I have done some quality control of some trails. I started running to do more intensive exercise in the city. Later I did some run in the mountains.

I have done some road races and some trail runs in the mountains, including 2 ultras. It helps me to disconnect mentally.

I became a leader to help people start running.
