I joined HWRC in September 2022 in order to try a new challenge- the couch to 5k (L2R) with Tony Rawson. I’d not run for decades and was unsure if I could run for 5 minutes let alone 5k! I stuck with the programme and I made some great friends along the way… I also surprised myself when I actually ran my first parkrun (5k) in November 2022. Since then I’ve progressed to 10k runs, and then my first half marathon in 2023! I was elated! Despite a minor setback with an injury I have continued to enjoy running and I am eternally grateful to HWRC for their support, encouragement and most of all for the friendship and fun I’ve found connecting with people of all ages and all abilities. I am living proof that age is just a number and you can do whatever you put your mind to… with a little help and encouragement of course!
