Success Story – Donna B.

In May 2015 I came along to Harold Wood Running Club for the first time. I was overweight, over 40 and lacked confidence. With Barry’s help I started the Couch to 5K programme. The support and encouragement I received over the 9 weeks was amazing and really made be believe I could actually do this despite the aches and pains. After every session there were always other club members waiting to congratulate me. In July 2015 I completed my first Park Run and the fact that 9 weeks earlier I couldn’t run for more than one minute intervals this was off the scale!

I am now able to run longer distances, have lost weight and feel healthier. In March this year I am taking part in the Brentwood Half Marathon. This will be my longest run and would not have been possible without the support of the club.

Harold Wood Running Club really is a friendly club who make running fun despite it being hard work. Young and old everyone is so supportive of each other it really is heartwarming. There’s just something about the club that when you join you don’t ever want to leave!
